  • Nov. 30, 2012

On the 26-28th November 2012, IASP held its Asian Divisions conference in Bangkok, organised and hosted by Thailand Science Park. 394 participants from 24 countries enjoyed discussions and debates on the hot topic of Open Innovation and how can Science Parks benefit from it. IASP Director General Luis Sanz and Ebba Lund, IASP Director of Services and Communication attended the conference and met with members from the IASP Asia Pacific and West Asian Divisions.

Under the theme of ‘Open Innovation: A Great Opportunity to Seize; Science Parks, Incubators, Universities, and Companies Using Open Innovation to their Advantage', participants heard presentations from Kjell Håkan Närfelt, Chief Strategy Officer at VINNOVA, Wim Van Haverbeke, Professor at ESADE Business School, as well as hearing from representatives from large multinationals, such as IBM and Pfizer, and leading science parks in the region.

The conference offered a dynamic blend of theoretical and practical knowledge, and stimulated delegates to engage in interesting debates at every session. On the last day of the event a panel session allowing for open reflection and knowledge sharing was held prior to a final debate on how important Open Innovation is for science parks and incubators. In addition to the conference sessions, delegates enjoyed the legendary Thai hospitality in various social events that enhanced a great networking atmosphere.
